Answer: No. Launch Pad does not charge parents, teachers, or its young authors or illustrators any type of publication or submission fees.
Answer: Because Launch Pad is a new magazine and we have just started to review submissions, your chances are very good! We are looking for both young authors and artists, so submit your work!
Answer: Accepted works will appear in our magazine online, but not in print. The online magazine is currently available for free (open access) to contributors, teachers, parents, and the general public. Because Launch Pad is seeking a publishing partner, our publishing model may change in the future.
Answer: We are still accepting submissions for many of our 2008 issues (Animals is published, and Fairy Tales and Fantasy is full). You still have plenty of time, so submit your material!
Answer: We can consider submissions up to 2000 words in length. Due to space and audience considerations, most of our published works will be fewer 2000 words. We do not have a minimum word requirement for submissions.
Answer: If you have a story that your wrote in the past for a teacher (or just for fun!) you are welcome to send it to Launch Pad. We are also interested in previously created artwork, or poetry and book reviews. Of course you are welcome to submit a new story or piece of artwork written or created especially for Launch Pad!
Answer: Submit it anyway! If we think it is wonderful, we will find a place for it in one of our current or future theme issues.
Answer: Parents and teachers are encouraged to help with spelling and grammar, and to make editing suggestions to improve the continuity and clarity of the plot, characterization, and other literary elements. Written submissions, however, should be the original work (not written by the parent or teacher) of children ages 6-12.
Answer: Like many magazines and journals, Launch Pad requires its authors and illustrators to sign a copyright form. If you would like to publish your work in a school or church newsletter, on your personal web site, or other educational or community resource, send a letter or email message to Launch Pad to ask for permission. Launch Pad believes in offering its young authors and illustrators flexible copyright options, and we will usually grant permission.
Answer: The editors will be conscientious about accepting only limited advertising from companies that sell beneficial or educational products to children or their parents. If you are interested in advertising, please send a message to the editorial staff (editor@launchpadmag.com) for more information.
